Carer Success Stories: Kirsty Hope, Care Management Supervisor for the Borders
When you enter a career in care with SRS Care Solutions, you will gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experience to progress in your role from day one, and we are committed to supporting you with this. We’re proud to invest in our people and promote professional development and internal promotion wherever possible.
We spoke to Kirsty Hope, CMS for the Borders, whose career has grown since she started at SRS Care Solutions.
What role did you start in at SRS?
“I started as a Team Leader almost 5 years ago when the company first opened in The Borders. I’ve never worked for a company more encouraging and supportive of my training and development than SRS Care.”
How did your career progress?
“After 2 years as a Team Leader, I moved into delivering training for SRS. I then moved on to be Care Management Supervisor. I have really enjoyed my time so far with the company, which has helped me to become a much more confident person within my role and I’ve learned a lot over that time as well.”
What is your favourite part of the job?
“I like the daily challenge that I have ahead of me. From completing support plans to being out on runs caring for our service users. I enjoy completing all the tasks in a client visit and being able to sit and have a wee chat with them about their day and making sure they’re happy. It can be humbling when I hear how well supported somebody feels and knowing I’ve had a positive impact on their life.”
What do you think makes SRS Care stand out from other care companies?
“The culture that they’ve created – it’s like a real family where you can expect as much loyalty from them as you give in return. They always put their service users and staff first. They invest in people, rewarding the hard work that you put in.
What would you say to those thinking of working in care?
“The work might be challenging, but it can be so rewarding. Anyone with a kind heart and a desire to improve people’s well-being should try it, in my opinion.”
