In our latest carer success interviews, we spoke with Ashleigh Wood, South Lanarkshire’s Registered Manager, about her SRS Care Solutions journey so far.
Can you tell us about your career so far at SRS Care?
“I joined the South Lanarkshire branch 3 years ago as a Shift Co-ordinator. With the encouragement, mentoring, and opportunities presented to me from the Divisional Managers and Director, I progressed from Co-ordinator to Deputy Manager before becoming Registered Manager.”
What is your favourite part of the job?
“Firstly, the front-line staff. They are incredibly brave to do what they do daily, and they do it all with a smile on their face whilst going above and beyond for every service user in their care. Our office team are so supportive of each other, pulling together to help each other out to ensure we can provide the best service possible. I’m very grateful for all of them.
Lastly, the service users themselves. They are so full of so many wonderful stories and have faced many challenges throughout their lives, they are a reminder that healthcare is an extremely rewarding job and I take great pride in being a part of someone’s personal journey.”
What do you think makes SRS Care stand out from other care companies?
“SRS Care are extremely invested in the progression of their employees. They’re very approachable, understanding, and support you to develop to work to your full potential within your role. Their training is invaluable, I feel like I’m still learning something new every day!”
What would you say to those thinking of working in care?
“Healthcare is a very rewarding job. It can be full of every emotion in one day, but the result is always a feeling of immense satisfaction. There really is no better feeling than that of making a difference in someone’s life in a positive way.”
