Reflecting on 2021 with South Lanarkshire’s Registered Manager

Ashleigh tells us about the last year working in healthcare:

“Working in healthcare over the last year has had its challenges along with its happy times. With coming out of lockdown and life trying to get back to some sort of normality, it has had its challenges.

People having to isolate and catching covid symptoms, people losing family members and friends from covid, people not being able to commit to work with either suffering from long covid or scared to go back in to the healthcare sector with the fear of catching covid.

It has been frustrating and tiring for not only carers but for managers, co-ordinators & recruiters also.

We have also had a lot of nice things happen such as:

  • two of our carers welcoming their babies into the world
  • staff being reunited with family who live in different countries
  • carers doing sky dives and raising money for charities in honour of clients we have lost
  • carers who got married
  • employees who have worked really hard and been promoted in to different roles within the company and many more things.

With there being ups and downs we have all managed to help each other through what can only be described as a very strange and unfamiliar time.”
