A Day In The Life – Registered Manager, Konor

Introduction to Konor

Konor Sweetin, Registered Manager for the Renfrewshire/East Renfrewshire areas of SRS Care Solutions tells our marketing department about his life as a manager, a newly married man, and a dog dad!

Name: Konor Sweetin

Role: Registered Manager

Branch:  Renfrewshire/East Renfrewshire

What does day-to-day at SRS look like for you?

No two days at SRS are the same. My role involves overseeing the Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire services, supporting people with a range of individual needs. On a normal day, I would engage with the different councils and social work departments while ensuring that all scheduled runs are operating smoothly and that the branch remains compliant with the Care Inspectorate and SSSC requirements.

What is your favourite thing about your role?

My favourite part of the job is when a service user achieves something that they have worked really hard towards. SRS has a strong focus on helping its clients reach their potential and meet outcomes they have set themselves. It’s really rewarding when the team helps make this happen through the care being delivered.

What is the team dynamic like?

We have a large (and growing) team within our Paisley branch which has recently expanded due to the continued success and expansion of the service. We are all a really friendly, outgoing bunch and have a great working relationship with each other – each with our own area of expertise.

What is the most challenging thing about your role?

The most challenging part of my role is when something doesn’t work out as planned as this tends to have a knock-on effect on other things. However, things normally tend to work out.

What does your professional background look like?

I have worked in Care for almost 5 years now. My career began in homecare as a part-time staff member. I wasn’t sure at that point if care was for me, however, I fell in love with the job and found I had a real passion for care. I moved on from homecare to a role in supported living and within a year I had become a Team Leader. My role was generally overseeing a supported living complex housing 13 service users for almost a year before becoming a service manager there. I then started with SRS in August 2020 as a deputy manager for the Carluke branch before progressing on to Registered Manager in November 2020 for the Renfrewshire/East Renfrewshire branch.

Do you have any hobbies/pets?

I have a dog called Buttons, she is a cross between a Westie and a Scottie. Buttons is honestly just like having a child and acts like a human! My hobby is spending time with my friends/family and having some refreshments in the sun.

3 words to describe SRS?

Exciting, Progressive, Rewarding

Konor recently married partner, John, in a small ceremony during the pandemic.

Where did you meet your spouse?

I met John at a house party and then spoke through social media before we started dating.

How long have you been together?

9 years in September

How did you celebrate your marriage?

It was a COVID wedding so we literally got married and that was it. We are planning on celebrating in the near future though with a big party (when we can) and then hopefully a honeymoon somewhere sunny.

Who’s the better cook?

I am the better cook. John has absolutely no cooking skills unless it’s microwaveable!

Favourite thing about being married?

Having the sense of security and companionship that marriage brings!

What would your advice be to other newlyweds?

Enjoy the moment, it’s a magical day, take the time to take it all in ?

Congratulations, Konor! SRS wish you and John all the best and hope to see some sunny honeymoon pictures soon!
